The Renovo-Bucktail Bucks got 229 rushing yards and three touchdowns from running back Don Gentzyel as the visitors downed Wellsboro 33-6 in the Hornets' homecoming football game Friday night, October 18.
Gentzyel ran the ball 32 times for his 229 yards, a 7.2 yards per carry average. He scored on a 30 yard run in the first quarter, caught an 11 yard touchdown pass from quarterback Chad McGregor in the second stanza and ran in from 45 yards out in the period.
The other two Buck touchdowns came on a three yard run by Rob Getz in the third quarter and a Paul Risley 26 yard touchdown reception from McGregor in the fourth period.
Wellsboro scored late in the fourth quarter on an Erick Crawford one yard scoring blast. Crawford was the top Hornet ground gainer carrying the ball 12 times for 71 yards.
Wellsboro quarterback Chad Watters completed four-of-10 passes on the evening. Robbie Tallman caught two for 33 yards. Crawford caught one for 13 yards, and Max Gross one for nine yards. Bucktail is currently 7-1 on the season. Wellsboro fell to 0-8.
The Hornets travel to Canton for a 1:30 p.m. game Saturday afternoon, October 26 versus the Warriors.
