The Wellsboro Middle School Volleyball team closed out their season with a 2-0 win over Cowanesque Valley on Wednesday, October 26.
The Lady Hornets won 25-22 and 25-15 to come home with the sweep. The B-team also won 2-0 (25-8, 25-19).
Skylar Runyan was the leading server with 15 points and 1 ace, 12 of those points were served consecutively. Shiloh Duff also contributed to the team's success at the service line with 13 points and 2 aces. Brei Kemp (5 hits, 1 kill), Chelsie English (7 hits), and Duff (5 hits, 2 kills) lead the team in hitting. Both Kemp (16) and Runyan (13) had hot hands setting, and Kathryn Burnett once again did a fantastic job as the defense specialist.
"The girls made tremendous gains this season in all areas of volleyball: mentally, physically, and skill wise," said head coach Jen Outman. "They were always eager to learn and willing to accept challenges placed in front of them. There was never a time they didn't want improve their level of play both individually and as a team. I am extremely proud of their effort, hard work, and dedication. The 8th grade girls will be extremely missed next year."
The win puts the Lady Hornets' record at 11-3 for the year.
