The Wellsboro Varsity Volleyball team swept Cowanesque Valley 3-0 on their home court on Thursday, September 29.
This win, the Lady Hornets' seventh of the year, is their third in a row since dropping four straight games. Wellsboro won the first set 25-18, the second 25-6, and held on in the third, 25-22 for the win. The win is also head coach Sharon Zuchowski's 60th career win since taking over in 2012.
Senior Kirsten Florio had 12 kills, 10 digs, and 2 blocks while sister Morgan Florio recorded 22 digs and 9 kills. Junior Jillian Graver led the team with 13 points (2 aces) and pitched in 7 kills, junior Brianne Keane led the team with 18 assists and 9 points, junior Hannah Burnett made 12 assists, and senior Olivia Kurtz scored 8 points on the night with 3 aces. Keane and Graver also added 7 digs each.
Wellsboro also swept the JV game 2-0 (25-15, 25-14) to keep their undefeated season going at 12-0.
The Lady Hornets are now 7-5 on the year, and will be back in action on Saturday, October 1 against Central Mountain.
