The Wellsboro Cross Country team took home top 3 finishes at the NTL Coaches Invite on Saturday, October 15.
The boys team took home a 2nd place finish while the girls finished 3rd overall. Both teams had 92 places on the day.
"On a day with perfect running conditions the team doubled up on breakthrough runs this week," said head coach Ron Brought. "They have figured out how to compete and physically respond to challenges. Today's effort was a good sign of their current fitness level at this point of the season. I'm very proud of all our runners."
In the boys race, sophomore Aidan Perry (17:13) was 3rd overall, junior Connor Brought (18:07) was 10th, freshman Austin Richards (18:40) was 17th, sophomore Bergen Weiner (19:16) was 32nd, senior Alden Weiner (19:20) was 34th, and sophomore Zack Busch (19:31) was 37th.
In the girls race, junior Anna Bleggi (20:38) was 3rd, freshman Kayla Mengee (21:52) was 8th, freshman Jaime Palmer (22.16) was 11th, sophomore Kara Doane (24:30) was 31st, freshman Kylie Butler (25:07) was 40th, and freshman Emma Palmer (25:07) was 41st.
In the Middle School race, the Wellsboro boys finished 6th and the girls finished 4th. Connor Owlett (22:55) was 19th for the boys and Hope Sampson (13:21) finished in 19th for the girls.
The Varsity teams will be back in action at Districts.
