The Wellsboro Varsity Boys Basketball team picked up their fifth win in a row as they beat Wyalusing 47-21 on Tuesday, January 26.
The Hornets held their opponents to under 30 points for their fourth consecutive game. Wellsboro held the Rams scoreless in the first quarter as they jumped out to an early 10-0 lead and never looked back. Both teams scored 10 points in the second quarter as the Hornets held a 18-10 lead at the half.
Wellsboro then went on a scoring spree in the second half as they outscored Wyalusing 29-11 for NTL Division 1 win.
Sophomore Dalton Prough led the Hornets with 13 points in his first game back in five games. Junior Jacob Singer finished with eight points, sophomore Quinn Henry had five and five assists, and juniors Brandon Lamphier and Alden Weiner and senior Dawson Prough all scored four points. Sophomore Collin Pietropola and freshmen Andrew Brelo and Brandyn Tuttle all finished with three points on the night.
Dawson Prough added four assists and five rebounds, Singer blocked two shots, and Dalton Prough added five rebounds and a steal.
The JV team improved to 18-0 on the year with a 34-15 win. Tuttle and Pietropola led the team with 10 points each and sophomore Nic Ingerick pitched in eight.
The win improves the Hornets' record to 12-6 on the year. The team will be back in action on Thursday as they travel to Towanda.
