The Wellsboro XC teams swept an NTL tri-meet with Sayre and Sullivan County on Tuesday, September 27.
In the girls meet, the Lady Hornets beat Sayre 21-34 and Sullivan County 15-50. Wellsboro swept the top 3 places with junior Anna Bleggi (21:17) winning the race followed by freshman Kayla Mengee (21:50), and freshman Jaime Palmer (22:26). Sophomore Rachel Chamberlain (24:04) was 5th and freshman Emma Palmer (27:12) was 11th.
In the boys meet, the Hornets defeated Sayre 18-48 and Sullivan County 18-38 by taking the top 4 spots. Sophomore Aidan Perry (18:05) won the race, followed by junior Connor Brought (18:15), freshman Austin Richards (18:33), and senior Alden Weiner (18:36). Sophomore Bergen Weiner (19:33) was 8th, sophomore Zack Busch (19:38) was 10th, and senior Bryon Callahan (20:10) was 14th. Junior Logan Morral (22:09), sophomore Taylor Wheeler (22:22), and freshman Lucas Citrino (22:25) were 20-22, and freshman Tyren Wetzel (28:00) and junior Noah Smith (37:26) were 24th and 25th, respectively.
"Solid wins today for both teams," said head coach Ron Brought. "The girls secured the top 3 spots with the guys securing the top 4. Both teams were able to run strong with a time difference of less then a minute between the top spot and fourth for the Guys and first and third for the girls."
In the Middle School races, Wellsboro swept both meets winning 15-50. Connor Owlett came in 3rd for the boys with a time of 12:05 and Hope Sampson was 3rd with 14:01 for the girls.
The teams will be back in action at the NEPA Invite this Saturday, October 1.
