The Wellsboro Cross Country teams closed out the 2016 regular season with wins over North Penn-Mansfield and Cowanesque Valley on Tuesday, October 11.
In the boys race, Wellsboro beat North Penn-Mansfield 19-36 and edged CV 27-28. CV also beat Mansfield 22-36.
Sophomore Aidan Perry won the race in 16:32, junior Connor Brought (17:40) was 5th, freshman Austin Richards (18:04) was 6th, senior Alden Weiner (18:27) was 7th, sophomore Bergen Weiner (18:46) was 9th, sophomore Zack Busch (19:10) was 10th, junior Michael Stefanowicz (19:31) was 14th, freshman Lucas Citrino (21:31) was 26th, junior Logan Morral (21:38) was 27th, sophomore Taylor Wheeler (22:12) was 30th, freshman Tyren Wetzel (29:20) was 37th, and junior Noah Smith (31:47) was 38th.
In the girls race, Wellsboro beat North Penn-Mansfield 27-29 and CV 21-36, and North Penn-Mansfield beat CV 23-34.
Junior Anna Bleggi (21:18) finished 3rd to pace the Lady Hornets followed by freshman Kayla Mengee (21:25) in 5th, freshman Jaime Palmer (21:30) in 6th, sophomore Kara Doane (23:56) in 11th, freshman Kylie Butler (24:04) in 13th, and freshman Emma Palmer (26:22) in 19th.
In the Middle School race, the boys lost to North Penn-Mansfield 34-20 and 34-23 to CV. The girls split their race, losing 45-17 to North Penn-Mansfield and beating CV 15-50. Connor Owlett (10:18) was the top finisher for the boys in 6th overall and Aislinn Hoose (11:36) was the top girls finishers in 21st overall.
Both teams will be back in action at the NTL Coaches Invite on Saturday, October 15.
