The Wellsboro Varsity Volleyball team took home a second place finish at the Tunkhannock Tournament on Saturday, September 12.
The Lady Hornets went undefeated in pool play with wins over Tunkhannock (25-16, 25-16), Wyoming Area (25-11, 25-19), Abington Heights (25-17, 25-13), and Blue Ridge (25-12, 25-23) to reach the semi-finals.
In the semi's the Lady Hornets beat Pocono Mountain East 25-23 and 25-12 to advance to the finals against NTL rival Towanda. In the finals Towanda won the first set 25-18 and Wellsboro won the second 25-17 to force a final set. Towanda took the final set 15-9 to take the crown and leave Wellsboro with a second place finish.
Junior Morgan Florio (38) and senior Darci Warriner (29) led the team in points, junior Kirsten Florio (38) and senior Mikayla Feil (31) led the team in kills, seniors Maddy Kyle (55) and Morgan Florio (48) led the team in assists, and senior Hannah Wagaman (57) and Warriner (33) led the team in digs.
The Lady Hornets will be back in action on Tuesday, September 15 as they host Troy.
