The Wellsboro Varsity Volleyball team beat Liberty in four games, 3-1 on Tuesday, September 29.
The Lady Hornets won the first set 25-20, but Liberty won the second 25-23 to tie the match at 1-1. After a slow start in the third set, Wellsboro bounced back to win 25-21 and hung on in the fourth set to win 25-21.
Junior Kirsten Florio led the team with 11 kills, senior Darci Warriner had 9, and junior Morgan Florio and senior Mikayla Feil had 6 kills each. Morgan Florio recorded 14 assists, senior Maddy Kyle had 6, and sophomore Brianne Keane had 5. Kirsten Florio had 4 blocks, senior Hannah Wagaman had 25 digs and Warriner pitched in 18 digs.
Morgan Florio scored 17 points on the night, Warriner scored 11, and Feil added 9.
The Liberty JV team won their match 2-0 (25-8, 25-17) to drop the Lady Hornet JV team's record to 6-3.
With the win, the Varsity team improves to 8-1 (4-1 NTL Division 1). The team will be back in action on Thursday, October 1 as they travel to Northeast Bradford.
