The Wellsboro Varsity Girls Soccer team continued their strong scoring barrage as they beat Wyalusing 9-1 on Thursday, October 1.
Senior Lindsey Graver started the Lady Hornets' scoring assult in the 7th minute to make it 1-0, followed by sophomore Alyssa Yungwirth in the 10th minute to make it 2-0. Freshman Julia Smith made it 3-0 Wellsboro in the 23rd minute for her first goal of the night and senior Joey Taft increased the lead to 4-0 in the 29th minute.
Wellsboro added 5 more goals in the second half. Senior Brynn Ripley found the back of the net in the 45th minute, senior Samantha Young scored in the 60th minute, Smith scored her second goal of the game in the 72nd minute, senior Sarah Ingerick scored with under 5 minutes remaining, and fellow senior Jenny Young scored the game's final goal with under two minutes to play.
Ripley had two assists and Graver, Smith, Ingerick, and freshman Emma Poirier all had one assist each. Sophomore Kailee Clymer recorded 8 saves in net and allowed Wyalusing's only goal in the 71st minute.
The win improves the Lady Hornets' record to 5-3-1 (4-2-1 NTL). The team will be back in action on Saturday, October 3 at South Williamsport.
