The Wellsboro Middle School girls basketball team finished in third place in this weekend's NTL Tournament.
The Lady Hornets started out with a 24-20 win over Northern Potter, Lost to Northeast Bradford 16-9 in the Final Four, and beat Williamson 31-20 for 3rd place.
Rachael Tuttle led all Hornets on the day with 22 points, 9 steals, 3 assists, 26 rebounds, while Autum Kitajima recorded 16 points, 12 steals, 4 assists, 7 rebounds on the day.
"We had a great day overall," said head coach Darrell Morris. "Against Northern Potter, we had the lead most of the game, but just could never stretch it to more than 7. We decided to use full-court man to man defense the whole second half to keep them off balance, and we really controlled the tempo of the game, despite the close score. I think it was a great experience for our girls to get a win in such a close game, under pressure.
"We had trouble scoring against a very talented and well coached Northeast Bradford team, and just could not make any shots, despite getting quite a few good looks. In the 3rd place game against Williamson, we never trailed. Our girls had an outstanding start to the game, jumping out to a 24-11 halftime lead, and did enough in the second half to win the game by 11."
The Lady Hornets will be back in action on Monday, March 18 as they travel to Williamson.
