The Wellsboro Middle School boys basketball team fell to North Penn late in the fourth quarter, 31-28 on Saturday.
Wellsboro entered the fourth quarter of Saturday mornings game up 26-17. The Hornets played great defense and team basketball for the first three quarters of the game, but North Penn turned up the defensive pressure in the fourth quarter and held Wellsboro to two points.
"We played three quarters of team basketball," said head coach Ed Hamm. "Next week we need to focus on limiting turnovers and playing an entire game of team basketball."
Jacob Singer led the team with 11 points, Collin Pietropola added 8, and Dalton Prough contributed 5.
In the B game, the Hornets topped North Penn 28-1.
With the loss, the Hornets fall to 0-3 on the year. The team will be back in action on Monday, March 4 as they travel to Liberty.
