The Middle School boys and girls basketball teams hosted Galeton Wednesday, with the boys coming out victorious.
The boys A team won 38-19 behind 11 points from Alden Weiner. Bryon Callahan was the second leading scorer with 9 points, Cole Cavanaugh and Dalton Prough each had 6, and Brandon Lamphier, Collin Pietropola, and Jacob Singer each had 2 points.
In the B game, the Hornets won 28-17.
With the win, the Hornets 3-3 overall.
In the girls game, the Lady Hornets fell to Galeton, 24-20. Jessica Grab lead the team with 7 points and 3 steals, Rachael Tuttle added 5 points and 10 rebounds, Kaeli Butters added 4 points and 7 rebounds, while Lizzie Poirier and Autum Kitajima added 2 points each.
"This was an exciting and hard fought game Our girls played hard and did a lot of things well," said head coach Darrell Morris. "We had a 16-15 halftime lead, but only scored 4 points in the second half, despite getting lots of good close shots.
"We were 9/47 from the floor for the game and 2/10 from the foul line. Galeton did a nice job closing out the game, and we couldn't make shots down the stretch, which was the difference."
With the loss, the Lady Hornets fall to 4-4 on the year.
Both teams will be back in action on Tuesday, March 12 as they host Liberty.
