The Wellsboro Varsity volleyball team fell to Holy Redeember last night in the opening round of PIAA State Playoffs, 3-0.
The team fell 25-12, 25-17, and 25-12 to end their season.
Senior Hannah Zuchowski led the Hornets with 15 kills, 10 digs, and 5 points, but was slowed down by the Royals. The Hornets had no answer for Holy Redeemer's top two hitters, as they both accumulated 16 kills.
Senior Mackenzie Marple recorded 9 assists and 3 kills, Junior Kaelyn Keane had 3 blocks, Senior Teahl Butler added 3 assists, Junior Maggie Smith had four points, and Junior Katie Straniere added 10 digs.
"We were flat we never really got started," said head coach Sharon Zuchowski.
With the loss, the Hornets end their 2012 season with a record of 15-5 (5-3 NTL West). WellsboroAthletics.com would like to congratulate the team on their season.
