A goal from junior Luna Moyer with just over 18 minutes left in the first half was led the Wellsboro Lady Hornet Soccer team to a 1-0 shutout over rival North Penn-Mansfield on Saturday morning.
Moyer's goal was assisted by senior Kaelyn Peterson.
"We created a lot of good opportunities today, but we just couldn't find the back of the net more than once," head coach Michael Reese said. "Credit to their goalkeeper, who made several fantastic saves and kept them in it. I thought we moved the ball well and did a good job controlling the game. Most importantly, we stayed organized defensively and came away with another clean sheet. There are plenty of positives to build on."
Wellsboro took 14 shots on goal in the contest and held the Lady Tigers to just one shot attempt, which was saved by senior Jadyn Dunlap for her third consecutive clean sheet and 18th of her career.
The Lady Hornets also had a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks.
The team improves Wellsboro to 3-1 and keeps them undefeated (3-0) in league play. The team is back in action on Wednesday at Troy.
