A game-winning shot by Jersey Shore's Jake Lorson gave the Bulldogs a 49-47 win over the Wellsboro Varsity Boys Basketball team on Friday afternoon.

"Tough loss," head coach Ron Doughtie said. "We came out slow and lacked some focus early. Sometimes a weird start time will throw you off. I was very proud of the effort in coming back in the second half and giving themselves a chance to win."

The Hornets found themselves in a 14-5 hole after the first quarter, but slowly began to dig themselves out in the 2nd. Both teams scored 10 points apiece before the half, with the Bulldogs holding a 24-15 lead.

Wellsboro had their best offensive quarter following the halftime intermission as they went on to outscore Jersey Shore 20-10 erase the deficit and take a one-point, 35-34, lead heading into the fourth quarter.

The final quarter was back-and-forth between both teams, but thanks to Lorson's shot, Jersey Shore prevailed with the two-point win.

Junior Colin Fletcher led all scorers with 16 points, including 4 three-pointers and going 4-for-4 at the foul line, while senior Luke Rothermel finished with 9 points. Senior Jonathan Carl and junior Gideon Lawton finished with 6 points apiece, sophomore Ransom Schultz added 5, and senior Marek Mascho and junior Ethan Keane scored 2 points each.

Sophomore Griffin Morral rounded out the scoring with one point.

Rothermel, Mascho and Morral all grabbed 3 rebounds apiece, Morral and Keane both made a pair of steals, Morral had 5 assists, and Fletcher blocked a shot.

Khani McCray had 15 points to lead Jersey Shore while Lorson finished with 11.

In the JV game the Hornets won 41-36 to improve to 8-0. Sophomore Braylen Jessup had 19 in the win and freshman James Doughtie finished with 11.

The loss drops the Hornets to 4-4 (3-1 NTL Large School Division). The team is back in action Tuesday at home against Wyalusing.
