Lady Hornets Sweep Rival North Penn-Liberty In Season Opener

The Wellsboro Varsity Volleyball team swept rival North Penn-Liberty, 3-0, to earn their first win of the season Tuesday night.

The Lady Hornets won 25-17, 25-23 and 25-23.

Junior Kendall Sweet scored 15 points and accumulated 4 aces while Peyton Keane made 10 kills and 3 digs. Senior Ellie Largey and junior Jillian Mickey recorded 14 assists apiece, junior Adelyn Frantz had 5 kills and 4 blocks, and senior Madison Cruttenden had 8 digs, 7 points and 2 aces.

Largey added 8 points from the service line, Sweet pitched in 7 kills, and junior Delaney Morral registered 3 digs.

Wellsboro also swept the JV game, winning 25-17 and 25-18.

The Lady Hornets (1-0, 1-0 NTL Large School Division) travels to Towanda on Thursday.
