Wellsboro swept Cowanesque Valley, 3-0, to score their 5th straight match win at home on Thursday.

Prior to the start of the Varsity game, senior Madison Cruttenden was honored for reaching 1,000 career digs Monday night against Coudersport. She is one of ten Lady Hornets to surpass 500 career digs. The last one to break the 500-dig mark was Natalie Cleveland. Cruttenden, however, is the first Lady Hornet to reach four-figures.

"This has been a goal of mine since my sophomore year," said Cruttenden. "Last year when I hit 500 digs I was hoping to surpass 1,000 my senior year."

Cruttenden made 432 digs her sophomore year then had 341 last year as a junior.

"This means so much to me," she continued. "It was a really big goal of mine."

"Maddy is leaving a great impact on our program," said head coach Darci Pollock. "She has put so much time and effort into volleyball and is always trying to better herself on and off the court. I am so proud of her for this accomplishment. I am excited to see what she accomplishes the rest of this season."

Wellsboro cruised to a 25-8 first set victory, they won the second set 25-18, then closed the match out with a 25-13 win in the third set.

Cruttenden led the Lady Hornets on the evening with 13 points on 7 aces and 7 digs. She also had an assist. Junior Kendall Sweet had 8 kills, 7 points and 4 aces, junior Peyton Keane had 6 kills and 4 digs, and junior Adelyn Frantz had 4 kills.

Senior Ellie Largey made 13 assists, junior Jillian Mickey made 9 assists and scored 12 points on 2 aces, and junior Madalynn Flannery made 5 digs.

Wellsboro started the evening with a 2-0 win in the JV game, 25-17 & 26-24 to improve to 10-2 overall.

The win improves the Varsity team's record to 10-2 (8-1 NTL Large School Division). The team hosts rival North Penn-Liberty on Tuesday for the 3rd annual Chuck Tameris Memorial Trophy game.
