Lady Hornets Suffer 1-0 Loss To Warrior Run

A second half goal by Warrior Run's Chloe Bastian was all the scoring in Wellsboro's 1-0 loss to the Lady Defenders Saturday afternoon.

Bastian scored with 27:20 remaining in the game.

"We had a couple of really good opportunities and I thought this was a game that could have gone either way," said head coach Michael Reese. "To come down here and go toe-to-toe with a team that has had this much success shows how much we've grown as a team. I'm proud of the way we competed and the fight we showed, but we're not interested in moral victories. We want to win these games. We'll learn from this, get better and keep working toward being the team that can finish on the right side of these results."

Wellsboro was out-shot 16-4 in the game, with three of them coming in the second half. Warrior Run also had a 5-3 edge in corner kicks.

Senior Jadyn Dunlap made 14 saves in goal, pushing her career total to 530.

Both teams played a modified JV game of two, 15 minute halves. The teams played to a 0-0 draw, with sophomore Olive Twoey making 3 saves.

"I was also really proud of the way our JV team played," Reese continued. "They came out with a spark and competed hard. Our defense did a great job of locking things down and not giving them many quality opportunities. Olive did a great job in goal. There was a lot of good energy from that group and it was great to see."

The loss drops the Lady Hornets to 6-2-1 (5-0-1 NTL). The team is back in action Tuesday at Towanda.
