The Wellsboro Girls Wrestling team took part in Saturday's Bald Eagle Area Tournament in Wingate, finishing 26th overall.
The Lady Hornets compiled 38 team points.
Sophomore Katie Whitney and freshman Phoebe Bowen both went 3-2 on the day, sophomore Isla Twoey and freshman Riley Kilburn went 2-2, and sophomore Rosa Sguera and freshman Peyton Weatherby were 0-2 on the day.
Whitney won her 1st round match in 2:24 over Warren's Nakita Nelson then fell to Shikellamy's Ryleigh Ziants in 2:35. Whitney rebound to win her consolation round match in 36 seconds against State College's Reagan Johnson. Whitney pinned Jersey Shore's Ellliana Herr in 2:07 in her third round consolation match before falling in 49 seconds to Boiling Springs' Molly Sowers in the fourth round.
Bowen started her day off by pinning Dallastown's Mary Allen in 47 seconds before dropping her quarterfinal match to Warren's Abbie Darr in 3:52. Bowen then scored back-to-back pins over Redbank Valley's Leila Wert (10 seconds) and Williamsport's Mia Davis in 1:46 to wrestle for 5th. Bowen fell to Central Mountain's Ashlyn Miller by 4-0 decision to finish 6th overall.
Twoey won her first match in 1:06 against Warren's Karolina Martinelli, then fell to Williamsport's Malaina Comfort in a 17-2 tech fall in 2:00 in the quarterfinals. She defeated Upper Dauphin's Cambrie Herb in 46 seconds in her 4th round consolation match before falling to Selinsgrove's Aislynn Weller in 2:02 in the consolation semi-finals.
Kilburn was pinned in 31 seconds by Brockway's Elysabeth Myers in her first match of the day before pinning Muncy's Paige Dunham-Lester in 2:25 in the 3rd consolation round. Kilburn went on to pin Sarah Buzzard of Redbank Valley in 1:17 in the 4th round consolation match, then later fell to Line Mountain's Kayleann Gonzalez in 48 seconds in her consolation semi-final match.
The Lady Hornets are back in action for a regular dual match at home on Tuesday against Sugar Valley Rural Charter.
