Lady Hornets Fall to Williamsport In 5 Sets

The Wellsboro Varsity Volleyball team fell 3-2 in non-league play to Williamsport Monday night, having their four-game winning streak snapped.

The Lady Hornets took the first set 25-22, then Williamsport took the second, 25-16. Wellsboro rallied to take the third set, 25-20, to take a 2-1 lead, however the Lady Millionaires won the fourth and fifth sets, 25-14 & 15-11, to claim victory.

Junior Peyton Keane led Wellsboro with 17 kills, 10 points and 5 aces. She also contributed 17 digs. Junior Adelyn Frantz made 13 kills to go along with 7 points on 4 aces and a block, junior Jillian Mickey had 23 assists, senior Madison Cruttenden recorded 26 digs, senior Ellie Largey had 16 assists and 8 points, and junior Kendall Sweet had 19 digs and 5 kills.

Senior Blake Eckart also added a block.

Wellsboro took the JV game 2-1 to start the evening. After falling 25-21 in the first set they rallied to take the next two, 25-20 & 15-13.

Wellsboro (5-2, 5-1 NTL Large School Division) hosts South Williamsport later this evening.
