The Wellsboro Varsity Volleyball team had a six-match win streak snapped as they fell 3-2 on the road against Troy Thursday evening.
After dropping the first set 25-21, the Lady Hornets rallied to win the next two sets - 25-14 & 25-20 - to take a 2-1 lead in the match.
Troy then rallied to knot the score at 2-all, winning 25-20, before claiming a 15-7 fifth set victory to close things out.
Junior Jillian Mickey scored 13 points on 4 aces to go along with 13 assists and 10 digs to lead the Lady Hornets. Junior Kendall Sweet made 10 kills and scored 8 points (3 aces), junior Adelyn Frantz had 9 points on 4 aces with 5 kills and 5 blocks, junior Peyton Keane registered 8 kills and 26 digs, and senior Madison Cruttenden made 22 digs.
Senior Ellie Largey had 13 assists, senior Blake Eckart added 3 blocks and junior Lacie Brutsman chipped in with two blocks.
Wellsboro won the JV game 2-0, 25-12 and 25-18, to improve to 12-2 on the season.
The loss drops the Lady Hornets to 11-3 (9-2 NTL Large School Division). The team is back in action Saturday for a non-league contest at Hughesville.
