A 15-2 first quarter put the North Penn-Mansfield Lady Tigers in firm control over their rival Wellsboro Thursday night, leading to a 40-10 victory over the Lady Hornets.
After the first quarter the Lady Tigers outscored Wellsboro 25-8.
Sophomore Adelyn Frantz led the Lady Hornets with 4 points, freshman Kya Lawton had 3 points, sophomore Kate Bryant added 2 points, and freshman Lena Rothermel rounded out the scoring with a point.
Lawton added 5 rebounds and 2 steals, Frantz had 3 steals, and Rothermel pulled down 5 rebounds.
Kameron Lightener led all scorers with 16 points.
North Penn-Mansfield won the JV game 32-14. Junior Bri Stocum had 6 points while freshman Shayla Hamblin and sophomores Ariel Acevedo, Aileen Bowers and Amelia Hulslander had 3 points each.
The loss drops the Lady Hornets to 4-14 (2-10 NTL Large School Division). The team is back in action Tuesday against Wyalusing.
