The Wellsboro Varsity Girls Basketball team suffered a 47-34 loss to Northeast Bradford in their first game since the Christmas Break on Monday.
The Lady Hornets found themselves in a 12-2 hole after the first quarter, but battled back to cut the lead to 19-14 at the break. Both teams scored 14 points apiece to keep the five-point margin heading into the 4th quarter, where NEB went on a 14-6 run to secure the win.
Sophomore Adelyn Frantz led the Lady Hornets with 13 points while freshman Kya Lawton added 9 points and senior Lily Wagner and sophomore Kate Bryant chipped in six points apiece.
Leah Beebe led all scorers with 19 points.
Wellsboro shot 4-of-9 from the foul line while NEB was 7-for-18.
Northeast Bradford swept the evening, winning the JV game 26-15. Sophomore Jennifer Belz had 7 points,sophomore Madison Nagy added 4,and freshmen Shayla Hamblin and Lena Rothermel chipped in two points apiece.
Wellsboro (3-5, 1-3 NTL Large School Division) is back on the road Wednesday night at Wyalusing.
