The Wellsboro Varsity Girls Wrestling team defeated Sugar Valley Rural Charter 35-9 to earn their third straight dual match victory on Thursday.
Sophomore Isla Twoey kicked off the match with a 17-2 (4:14) tech fall over Abby Immel to put the Lady Hornets on the scoreboard first. After back-to-back no matches (106 & 112), and back-to-back defeats at 118 lbs. and 124 lbs. to put Sugar Valley in front, 9-5, junior Kaelyn Peterson scored a 28 second pin at 130 lbs. over Keelie Wetzel, putting the Lady Hornets back in front, 11-9.
Sophomore Katie Whitney (136) scored a pin over Skylynn Taylor in 3:59, followed by a forfeit victory for freshman Peyton Weatherby at 142 lbs. to give Wellsboro a 23-9 lead.
Freshman Riley Kilburn captured a 55 second pin over Kayleigh Showers at 170 lbs. and freshman Phoebe Bowen won by forfeit at 190 lbs. to close out the match.
The team is at the Williamsport Showcase this weekend.
