Junior High Volleyball Team Ekes Out Win Over Towanda

It took three sets but the Wellsboro Junior High Volleyball team rallied to defeat Towanda 2-1 on Monday evening.

The young Lady Hornets edged Towanda 25-22 to take the first set, however Towanda completely dominated Wellsboro in the second, winning 25-8. Wellsboro then rallied, and won the third set, 17-15.

Brynn Bourret scored 9 points on 8 aces to lead Wellsboro while Nora Mickey added 4 points, and Natalie Weaver and Leah Szentesy chipped in 3 points and 2 aces each. Szentesy also made 3 assists.

Naleyah Greenfield had 3 kills, Weaver added 2 kills and 2 assists, and Greenfield also had 2 blocks.

Bourret also made 6 digs and had 2 assists and a kills, Mickey and Kyerra Heck added 3 digs, Lylah Dillon had 2 digs and an assist, and Blair Parsons had a kill and 2 points.

Ella Satalin and Greenfield also scored 2 points apiece.

Wellsboro lost the B team game, 2-1 (19-25, 25-23, 12-15).

Wellsboro improves to 5-2 and is back in action Wednesday at Wyalusing.
