Junior High Hornets Place 2nd, Lady Hornets 3rd At NTL Championships

Wellsboro's Junior High Track & Field teams concluded their seasons Tuesday afternoon at the NTL Junior High Championships.

The Hornets brought home a 2nd place finish as Athens edged them out, 133.5-132. The young Lady Hornets finished 3rd overall with 62.5 points behind Athens (134) and Troy (110).

For the girls, Ryleigh Sporer (13.63) and Nora Mickey (14.34) were 1st and 4th in the 100m, Naleyah Greenfield (29.01) finished 5th in the 200m, Sporer (1:07.09) took 2nd in the 400m, and Greenfield (19.81) was 5th in the 100m hurdles.

Rosa Cole and Ella Gehman both cleared 4-ft, 2-in to finish 5th and 6th in the high jump, Isobel Kennedy (12-ft, 5) took 6th in the long jump, and Gehman (27-ft, 8.5) placed 5th in the triple jump.

Cole (25-ft, 7.5) was 6th in the shot put and 12th in the discus (47-ft, 6).

Wellsboro won the 4x100m relay in 55.24 and was 4th in the 4x400m relay in 5:00.55.

For the boys, Cody Tomlinson (12.49) and Aden Berg (12.78) were 3rd and 4th in the 100m, Tomlinson (24.95) and Berg (26.27) took 2nd and 3rd in the 200m, Tomlinson (56.17) took 2nd in the 400m, Nate Rudy (2:33.38) finished 2nd in the 800m, William Rudy (5:36.42) was 3rd in the 1600m, and Berg (17.54) and Justin Dunlap (18.49) were 2nd and 3rd in the 100m hurdles.

Damon Boyce (4-ft, 8) and Dunlap (4-ft, 6) took 4th and 5th in the high jump, Isaac Otbot (15-ft, 10) and Boyce (15-ft, 7.75) were 2nd and 3rd in the long jump, and Boyce won the triple jump (31-ft, 8.75).

Otbot (32-ft, 9.5) took 2nd in the shot put and Caleb Clark (83-ft, 2.5) finished 8th in the discus.

The Hornets split the relays, winning the 4x100m with a time of 49.62 and took 2nd in the 4x400m in 4:23.64.
