Junior High Hornets Cruise To Quad-Meet Win

The Wellsboro Junior High Track & Field teams were both victorious in quad-meet action over North Penn-Mansfield, Williamson and Canton on Wednesday afternoon.

The young Lady Hornets scored 80.5 points, North Penn-Mansfield scored 43 to finish 2nd, Williamson finished 3rd with 39 points, and Canton rounded out the field with 35.5.

The Hornets ran away from the field with 102 points, North Penn-Mansfield (64) took 2nd, Williamson (33) was 3rd, and Canton (1) came home 4th.

For the girls, Ryleigh Sporer (13.92) and Naleyah Greenfield (14.67) were 1st and 3rd in the 100m, Greenfield (31.09) took 2nd in the 200m, Sporer (1:05.52) won the 400m, Serenity Harrison was 7th in both the 800m (3:51.88) and the 1600m (8:26.93), and Greenfield (19.67) won the 100m hurdles.

Wellsboro split the relays, winning the 4x100m in 57.85 and taking 2nd in the 4x400m (5:02.77). Rosa Cole (4-ft, 4) and Ella Gehman (4-ft) finished 1st and 2nd in the high jump, Gehman (12-ft, 2) won the long jump with Lorelei Stevens (11-ft, 8.,75) in 3rd, and Gehman (27-ft, 4) was 2nd in the triple jump.

Cole won the shot put (24-ft, 8) and the discus (52-ft, 8).

For the boys, Cody Tomlinson (12.11) and Aden Berg (12.58) were 1st and 2nd in the 100m, Berg (26.01) was 1st in the 200m and Isaac Otbot (27.07) took 3rd. Tomlinson (56.40), Justin Dunlap (1:04.59), and Nate Rudy (1:06.48) swept the 400m, Nate Rudy (2:43.10) and WIlliam Rudy (2:44.09) were 2nd and 3rd in the 800m, and William Rudy (5:46.84), won the 1600m with Declan Borzok (5:58.23) in 3rd, and Berg (17.88) and Dunlap (18.52) went 1-2 in the 100m hurdles.

Damon Boyce (4-ft, 8) and Dunlap (4-ft, 8) took 2nd and 3rd in the high jump, Otbot (16-ft, 6.75) and Evan Rawson (14-ft, 4.75) finished 1st and 2nd in the long jump, Elijah Sensenig (23-ft, 7) was 7th in the triple jump, LeeJay Otbot (25-ft, 5) and Ben DeWitt (25-ft, 1.5) were 3rd and 4th in the shot put, and DeWitt (63-ft, 1.25) was 4th in the discus.

Wellsboro won both relays, taking the 4x100m in 51.35 and the 4x400m in 4:41.54.

The teams are back in action on Monday against North Penn-Mansfield and Williamson.
