The Wellsboro Boys Soccer team completed the season sweep of Athens with a 1-0 shutout on the road Tuesday evening.

"I’m so proud of the team," head coach John Shaffer said. "Our depth was key tonight. We were able to rotate and stay fresh and keep the pressure up."

The game was scoreless until the 76th minute when senior Coen Tennis headed in a corner kick from senior Mason Brill.

Wellsboro took five shots on goal and held the Wildcats to just two shots. The Hornets also had a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Junior Camden Bryant stopped both of Athens' shot attempts to record 7th shutout of the season.

"It was a total team effort," continued Shaffer. "From how they challenge each other in training to prepare for matches like this to all the small contributions tonight. Being able to keep a clean sheet and then score on a corner kick was what it required to beat a great Athens team."

Wellsboro improves to 13-1-2 overall and 12-1-1 on the season. The team is back in action Thursday against Williamson for Senior Night.
