Hornets Roll Past Wyalusing With 13-Run 2nd Inning For 10th Straight Win

Wellsboro ran their win streak to 10 games following a 17-2, 3-inning, victory over Wyalusing Friday afternoon.

The win moves the Hornets to the #2 seed in District IV's Class 3A playoff race with three games remaining.

The Hornets started the game with 4 runs in the 1st inning, then exploded for 13 runs in the bottom of the 2nd, after Wyalusing cut the game in half with 2 runs in the top half of the inning.

Senior Marek Mascho had a big day at the plate, driving in 4 runs on 3 hits (3-for-3) with a double while scoring 3 runs. Wellsboro had 8 hits on the day. Junior Coen Tennis (1-for-1), senior Cameron Owlett (1-for-2), sophomore Kody Enck (1-for-3), freshman Gage Baltzley (1-for-3) and sophomore Reed Richardson (1-for-3) backed up Mascho.

Tennis and Baltzley drove in 3 runs apiece, Enck had 2 RBIs, and Owlett, Richardson and sophomore Gabe Cuneo all drove in solo runs. Marek Mascho, junior Max Mascho and Cuneo all scored three times, Tennis, Owlett and sophomore Griffin Morral scored two runs each, and Baltzley and Richardson scored once.

Junior Syler Pietrzyk earned the win from the mound, allowing 2 runs on 2 hits with a walk and a strikeout. Max Mascho threw the final inning, allowing 1 hit and striking out 3.

Wellsboro (14-2, 12-1 NTL Large School Division) travels to Williamson for a 2:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon game.
