Hornet Track Teams Cruise To Non-League Win Over South Williamsport

The Wellsboro Track & Field teams hosted South Williamsport in non-league action Thursday afternoon, pulling a sweep over the Mounties.

The Lady Hornets beat South 111-35 while the Hornets won 111-39.

For the boys, senior Jonathan Carl took 1st in both the 100m (11.88) and the 200m (23.86) with freshman Liam Stevens taking 3rd in the 100m (12.56) and the 200m (25.93). Senior Aaron Kirk (56.20), sophomore Logan Johnson (58.63) and freshman Austin DeShazo (1:02.10) took 2nd-4th in the 400m, senior Max Macias was 2nd in the 800m (2:14.90) with freshman Daniel Taboada (2:39.84) in 4th. Macias also won both the 1600m (4:55.56) and the 3200m (14:19.34) with freshman Taitt Webster (14:19.64) taking 2nd in the 3200m.

Senior David Seeling swept the hurdles, winning the 110m in 16.88 and the 300m in 42.57. He also cleared 6-ft, 4 to win the high jump with sophomore Xavier Lecker (5-ft, 4) and sophomore Connor Hartman (5-ft, 4) tying for 2nd. Junior Zander Rachiele (8-ft, 6) and sophomore Eoin Duffy (7-ft, 6) swept the pole vault, and Stevens (18-ft, 9.75) won the long jump with sophomore Brayden Benjamin (18-ft, 0.75) taking 3rd. Carl (40-ft, 8.5), Benjamin (35-ft, 9.25) and freshman Desmun Hennigan (35-ft, 0.75) swept the triple jump.

Sophomore Ransom Schultz (40-ft, 4) and freshman Conlen Whitsell (35-ft, 2.5) went 1-2 in the shot put, Whitsell (104-ft) won the discus with senior Jacob Thurstin (92-ft, 3.5) finishing in 2nd, and Schultz (134-ft, 5) was 2nd in the javelin with junior Jacob Smith (98-ft, 7.5) taking 4th.

The Hornets swept the relays, winning the 4x100m (52.16), the 4x400m (3:59.03) and the 4x800m (11:05.99).

For the girls, junior Piper Hoprich (12.65), sophomore Luna Moyer (13.60) and senior Sophia Yoder (13.85) swept the 100m. Hoprich (26.69), Yoder (29.77) and sophomore Shaina Harrison (30.96) swept the 200m. Sophomore Bella Hawn (1:12.66) and freshman Addie Chaborek (1:17.33) finished 2nd and 3rd in the 400m, senior Lauren Kosek (2:35.63) and freshman Kaci Kosek (2:44.14) were 1st and 4th in the 800m, and Lauren Kosek (5:41.77) took the top spot in the 1600m and the 3200m (14:21.04).

Freshman Olive Twoey (18.32) took top spot in the 100m hurdles followed by sophomore Jennifer Belz (19.18) in 2nd and freshman Lilly Sprouse (19.49) in 3rd. Sophomore Isla Twoey (52.55) won the 300m hurdles and Olive Twoey (57.76) was 3rd and sophomore Piper Perry (59.09) was 4th.

Sophomore Lauren Gehman (4-ft, 6) and senior Olivia Gage (4-ft, 6) swept the high jump, senior Megan Mosher (7-ft, 6) and junior Ellie Largey (7-ft) went 1-2 in the pole vault, freshman Dillyn Patt (15-ft, 7) and Isla Twoey (15-ft, 5) took the top two spots in the long jump, and Isla Twoey (33-ft) won the triple jump with freshman Kate Satalin (29-ft, 4.5) and Gehman (29-ft, 1.50 finished 3rd and 4th, respectively.

Sophomores Adrianna Fitzpatrick (20-ft, 3.5) and Chloe Bathrick (19-ft, 10) were 3rd and 4th in the shot put, freshman Kaydence Pierce (70-ft, 8.5), sophomore Serenity Mosher (68-ft, 11) and Bathrick (64-ft, 10) were 2nd-4th in the discus, and junior Sienna Zengerle (74-ft, 7) and senior Rowan Butters (68-ft, 6) went 1st and 2nd in the javelin.

The Lady Hornets also swept the three relay races. Wellsboro won the 4x100m in 51.49, the 4x800m in 13.47.26, and rallied to win the 4x400m in 4:43.19.

Both teams are back in action at Troy on Tuesday.
