Gehman Goal Lifts Lady Hornets Over Wyalusing, 1-0

Junior Lauren Gehman scored the Wellsboro Girls Soccer team's lone goal to lift the Lady Hornets to a 1-0 win over at home on Thursday night.

The win sweeps the season series with the Lady Rams.

"Wyalusing is a tough, athletic team that makes you work for everything, and I was really proud of the way our girls maintained their composure in a close match," said head coach Michael Reese. "Kate played a great ball to Ren and Ren did a great job finishing it for her second goal in as many games. These are the kinds of games where you have to stay patient, stay composed and find a way to get the result."

Gehman's goal, assisted by junior Kate Bryant, came with 6:37 left in the first half.

Wellsboro's defense, and senior Jadyn Dunlap, recorded their fifth shutout of the season, stopping all three of Wyalusing's shots. The shutout is Dunlap's 20th of her career.

Wellsboro took seven shots to the Lady Rams' three and had a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Wyalusing beat Wellsboro 2-0 in the JV game. Sophomore Olive Twoey recorded two saves in goal.

The Lady Hornets improve to 6-1-1 (5-0-1 NTL). The team will head South to take on Warrior Run in a non-league contest tomorrow afternoon.
