Young Wellsboro Volleyballers Sweep Sayre In Weekend Contest

The Wellsboro Junior High Volleyball team improved to 6-3 on the season after they swept Sayre Saturday morning.

Wellsboro controlled the first set 25-9 then won the second 25-18.

Alexis Dunning led the young Lady Hornets with 8 points and 4 aces while Harper Bourret had 7 points and 4 aces. Rachel Weaver added 7 points and 3 aces, Reese Eckart scored 6 points and had to aces and made 3 kills. Bourret, Taeber Rodriguez and Weaver all added one kill apiece.

Dunning chipped in 3 assists, Weaver added 2 assists and Bourret, Lucianna Flores Zambrano, and Weaver all had digs.

Wellsboro also won the B game in a 2-0 sweep: 25-16 and 25-13. Leah Szentesy had 9 points and 4 aces to lead the way while Devan Fairbanks and Addie Smith had 2 points each.

Wellsboro is back in action this evening at Wyalusing.
