Wellsboro Girls Place 22nd At Matness At The MACC Tournament

The Wellsboro Girls Wrestling team placed 22nd overall out of 24 teams at the Matness at the MACC Tournament at Montgomery Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Hornets scored 20 points, edging out Danville (12) and Wyalusing (8).

In the opening round freshman Isla Twoey and junior Jordan Rumsey won their matches. Twoey pinned Upper Dauphin's Jenna Burkert in 50 seconds while Rumsey scored a 2:45 pin against Northeast Bradford's Dariela Reyes Ramirez.

In the second round Twoey pinned Montgomery's Gabriela Butcher in 23 seconds.

After suffering pin fall defeats in the second round, both Rumsey and junior Kodi Passmore secured victories in the third round. Rumsey pinned Williamsport's Ariana Geasey in 2:21 while Passmore earned her 1st win of the day via a 2:25 pin against Panther Valley's Adrianna Fiore.

Twoey and Rumsey were both 2-1 on the day while Passmore finished 1-3. Sophomore Kaelyn Peterson was 0-3, senior Megan Robbins was 0-4, and freshman Katie Whitney was 0-3.

The team is back in action at Troy on January 14.
