The Wellsboro Varsity Volleyball team was edged 3-2 by NTL Large School Division foe Troy Thursday evening, ending a 10-game win streak.
Despite winning the first set 25-20 the Lady Hornets dropped the next two - 25-23 and 25-16 - to fall behind 2-1 heading into the fourth set. Wellsboro won that 25-18, but ultimately fell 15-12 in the fifth set to drop the match.
Senior Taylor Main led Wellsboro with 13 points (1 ace), 16 assists and 19 digs while junior Ellie Largey scored 11 points (2 aces) and also made 16 assists.
Junior Madison Cruttenden made 32 digs, sophomore Peyton Keane and junior Blake Eckart had 10 kills apiece, and sophomore Adelyn Frantz had 9 kills and 2 blocks.
Sophomore Kendall Sweet also scored 7 points (1 ace) and sophomore Teagan Novinger had 2 blocks.
Wellsboro won the JV game 2-0 (25-19, 25-18) to improve to 16-2 on the season.
The loss drops the Lady Hornets to 15-3 overall and 11-2 in the NTL Large School Division. The team is back in action Monday at South Williamsport for their final non-league match of the season.
