The Troy Trojans swept the season series with the Wellsboro Boys Basketball team, defeating the Hornets 77-41 on Monday, January 27.
Troy jumped out to an early 28-9 first-quarter lead and never looked back. They outscored the Hornets 29-11 in the second to build a 57-20 lead at the half.
Wellsboro turned the ball over 24 times in the contest.
All five of Troy's starters finished with double-digits in scoring on the night, led by Trey Teribury's 18 points. Joseph Frye also added 16.
Junior Luke Rothermel led Wellsboro with 9 points, senior Mitchel Lechler finished with 8 points, and junior Jonathan Carl added 6. Junior Marek Mascho and freshman Griffin Morral scored 4 points each, sophomore Colin Fletcher and freshman Ransom Schultz added 3 points, and sophomores Max Mascho and Gideon Lawton rounded out the scoring with 2 points.
Lechler and Rothermel both grabbed 4 rebounds and made 3 assists, Carl also pulled down 4 boards, sophomore Ethan Keane made 2 assists and a steal, Max Mascho added 3 rebounds, and Morral grabbed a pair of boards.
The Hornets started out the evening with a 64-58 win in the JV game as Schultz scored 18 points and Morral finished with 17. The JV team is now 11-6 on the year.
Wellsboro falls to 8-9 overall and 7-5 in the NTL Large School Division. The team is back on the road Wednesday evening at Canton.
