Pietrzyk Leads Hornets Past Canton In Head-To-Head Match At Tyoga

Junior Syler Pietrzyk shot a two-over par 37 to lead the Wellsboro Golf Team to a 164-202 win over Canton on Wednesday at Tyoga Golf Course.

Wednesday's 9-hole match is new for the Northern Tier League in 2025, allowing host courses to keep their adult leagues while allowing student-athletes to miss less school than in past years with the 18-hole schedules.

Sophomore's Chase Schultz shot a 40, freshman Samuel Jackson carded a 43 with freshman Benjamin Jackson finishing right behind him with a 44. Senior Kiernen Whitsell finished with a 46 and sophomore Logan Johnson rounded out the field with a 54.

Canton's Reed Taylor led the Warriors on the day with a 49.

Wellsboro improves to 16-6 overall and is back in action Monday against Towanda and Cowanesque Valley at the Towanda Golf Club.
