The Wellsboro Varsity Girls Basketball team was held to just eight made field goals as they struggled to score in a 45-21 to rival North Penn-Mansfield Thursday night.
Wellsboro shot just 23.5% on the night while turning the ball over 25 times.
Despite their troubles the Lady Hornets trailed 6-2 after the first quarter, but went on a 13-5 second quarter run to take a 15-11 lead into halftime.
The second half, however, was completely dominated by North Penn-Mansfield.
The Lady Tigers went on a 13-7 run in the third quarter to retake the lead at 24-22 at the end of the quarter. They did the most damage in the 4th quarter as they outscored the Lady Hornets 17-3.
Senior Paige Logsdon led all scorers on the night with 12 points while grabbing 6 rebounds. Freshman Adelyn Frantz finished with 8 points, senior Chloe Brandenburg added 3 points and junior Lily Wagner and freshman Teagan Novinger rounded out the scoring with one point each. Brandenburg made 5 assists and grabbed a pair of rebounds, Frantz and Wagner had 3 steals apiece, and Novinger added 5 rebounds.
Claire Dominick led North Penn-Mansfield with 11 points.
North Penn-Mansfield swept the evening, winning the JV game 21-10. Junior Sophia Yoder and freshman Kate Bryant scored 4 points each.
Wellsboro falls to 5-11 overall and 2-10 in the NTL Large School Division. The team is back in action at Athens tomorrow afternoon.
