Williamson jumped out to an early 11-4 lead and went on to down the Wellsboro Girls Basketball team 47-29 on Wednesday.
After taking the early lead the Lady Warriors outscored the Lady Hornets 16-6 to build a 27-10 lead at the halftime break. Williamson opened up the scoring gap to 20 points with a 12-9 third quarter, leading 39-19 heading into the final quarter.
Wellsboro did outscore Williamson 10-8 over the final eight minutes.
Freshman Kya Lawton led the Lady Hornets with 16 points and 12 boards for a double-double. Sophomore Adelyn Frantz finished with 5 points while junior Reese Regina, sophomore Kate Bryant, senior Lily Wagner and sophomore Amelia Hulslander all added 2 points apiece.
Alexis Sprague (12), Bailey Snyder (11) and Kenna Thomas (10) all finished in double-digits for Williamson.
Wellsboro won the JV game in a nail-biter, 20-18. Wellsboro trailed 18-11 heading into the 4th quarter but went on a 9-0 run to eek out the win. Freshman Dillyn Patt finished with 6 points to lead Wellsboro while freshman Shayla Hamblin added 5 points, including the winning three-pointer.
The loss drops the Lady Hornets to 1-3 (1-1 NTL Large School Division). The team is back in action Friday night at rival North Penn-Mansfield.
