The Wellsboro Volleyball team's season came to an end after a 3-2 loss to Loyalsock in the District IV Class 2A semi-finals in Athens on Tuesday evening.
The Lady Lancers took the opening set 25-19 before the Lady Hornets won 25-23 and 25-20 to take a 2-1 lead. Loyalsock then rallied to win the 4th set 25-15 and edged Wellsboro 16-14 to take the match and advance to play Troy in Thursday night's final.
Sophomore Peyton Keane led the Lady Hornets with 19 points (7 aces), 10 kills and 9 digs while sophomore Adelyn Frantz had 11 kills and 4 blocks. Sophomore Kendall Sweet scored 10 points (8 aces), junior Ellie Largey made 13 assists and scored 9 points (2 aces), and junior Blake Eckart had 8 digs and 4 kills.
Sophomore Jillian Mickey had 13 digs and freshman Paige Rush made 12 assists.
Wellsboro finishes their season 17-5 (11-3 NTL Large School Division).
