Kendall Kitchen scored a game-high 21 points to lead Canton to a 48-35 NTL cross-over win over Wellsboro On Tuesday.
Canton took an early 13-7 lead after the first quarter, but Wellsboro began making up ground in the 2nd. The Lady Hornets outscored the Lady Warriors 15-13 to cut the lead down to four points, 26-22, as both teams went to the locker rooms. Canton went on an 11-6 run in the third to put some breathing room between themselves and Wellsboro, and finished the game out with an 11-7 fourth quarter run.
Cailyn VanNoy was the second leading scoring for Canton with 8 points.
Seniors Chloe Brandenburg and Paige Logsdon, along with freshman Teagan Novinger all scored 9 points apiece. Freshman Adelyn Frantz added 6 points and freshman Rylee Coolidge rounded out the scoring with 2 points. Logsdon pulled down a team, and game, high 14 rebounds and blocked 3 shots, Brandenburg made 4 assists and grabbed 6 rebounds, and Novinger had 8 rebounds.
Wellsboro won the JV game 27-17 to improve to 5-6. Frantz led all scorers with 18 points.
The loss drops the Lady Hornets to 5-10 (2-9 NTL Large School Division) on the year. The team is back in action at rival North Penn-Mansfield Thursday.
