The Wellsboro Varsity Volleyball team was edged 3-2 by Towanda in their regular season finale on Tuesday during Senior Night.
After dropping the first set 26-24 the Lady Hornets rallied to take the next two sets, 26-24 & 25-19.
Towanda won the 4th set 25-13 to force a fifth set, which they won 16-14 to become post-season eligible.
Sophomore Adelyn Frantz led the team with 14 kills, junior Blake Eckart had 11 kills and 17 digs, and sophomore Peyton Keane had 8 kills and 8 points (3 assists).
Junior Ellie Largey scored 13 points and made 19 assists, senior Taylor Main had 11 points (2 aces), 14 assists and 15 digs, and junior Madison Cruttenden made 43 digs.
Wellsboro won the JV game 2-0 (25-23, 25-21) to finish their regular season 18-2.
The loss drops Wellsboro to 16-4 (11-3 NTL Large School Division). The team is currently 2nd in the Class 2A Volleyball power rankings, and will wait for their official pairing for their first round match.
