Wellsboro's Junior High Volleyball team swept the season series with Athens Monday evening, picking up another 2-0 win over the young Lady Wildcats.
"It was great to sweep Athens again on our home court," head coach Valery Weaver said. "A team really stepped up and executed for the win very well (despite missing a key player who is out for the season due to injury). We played great defense, and our serving was on-point."
The young Lady Hornets edged Athens 25-22 to win the first set, then won the second, 25-19.
Nora Mickey led Wellsboro with 10 points and 2 aces while Reese Eckart had 6 points and an ace, and Alexis Dunning and Rachel Weaver both scored 4 points apiece. Dunning added 3 aces and a dig while Weaver added 2 aces and 2 assists.
Eckert and Taeber Rodriguez both had one kill each. Alayna Richards also added 2 digs.
In the B game Wellsboro won 2-1 (25-23, 22-25, 15-5). Ella Satalin scored 12 points (5 aces), Lilyana Jones scored 9 points (4 aces) and Emma McConaghy added 8 points (5 aces).
The young Lady Hornets improve to 8-4 and are back in action Thursday at Williamsport.
