Hornets Place 4th At River Valley

Juniors Mason Brill and Syler Pietrzyk both shot sub-90 rounds to lead the Wellsboro Golf team to a 4th place finish Thursday morning at River Valley Country Club.

Brill finished with a round of 83 while Pietrzyk shot an 86.

Towanda had four golfers shot 80 or under to win the day with a 305. Athens came home 2nd with 331, and North Penn-Mansfield edged Wellsboro with a 352. The Hornets' 4th place finish had a 356, Cowanesque Valley was 5th at 371, Wyalusing placed 6th (375), Canton shot 400 to finish 7th, and Sayre rounded at the field with a 541.

Senior Kiernen Whitsell finished with a 93, sophomore Logan Johnson shot a 94, freshman Samuel Jackson carded a 97, and freshman Benjamin Jackson rounded out the team with a round of 99.

Wellsboro (10-4) hosts the NTL at Tyoga Golf Course on Monday.
