The Wellsboro and Athens Varsity Boys Soccer teams couldn't determine a winner after 100 minutes of NTL soccer Saturday afternoon, resulting in a 0-0 draw at Alumni Stadium.
"Our keeper and backline did a great job keeping the ball out of our net, and we had a couple scoring opportunities, but couldn't find the finishing touch," head coach Todd Fitch said. "I'm proud of the boys' determination and effort to execute the things w'’ve worked on and the adjustments we made throughout the match."
Athens had a slight advantage in both shots (6-5) and corner kicks (6-4). Senior Camden Tom and Athens' Zach Fisher both saved six shots apiece in goal.
Wellsboro did manage to pull out a win on the day, taking the JV game 3-1.
Freshman Liam Stevens scored a pair of goals, one in each half and sophomore Connor Hartman scored the final goal off a cross from sophomore Brayden Benjamin.
Freshman Daniel Taboada assisted on Stevens' first goal.
The Hornets are now 9-3-1 (7-1-1 NTL). The team is back in action against Galeton on October 1.
