Hornet Swimmers Post Multiple District Qualifying Times In Season Opening Meet At Williamsport

The Wellsboro Swim team opened their season on the road at Williamsport Tuesday, posting multiple District IV qualifying times.

Williamsport won the boys' meet 102-45 and the girls' meet 118-3. Williamsport's boys also beat Lewisburg 110-18 and 98-74 in the girls' meet.

For the girls, sophomore Piper Anderegg was 3rd in both the 50 Free (27.69) and 500 Free (6:13.51). Both were District IV qualifying times.

Senior Kristina Belz placed 6th in the 200 Free (2:47.51) and 5th in the 100 Breaststroke (1:22.96) (District IV qualifying time).

Freshman Joelle Bull was 3rd in the 200 Free (2:36.86) and 5th in the 100 Free (1:09.95).

Senior Makenna Robbins took 4th in the 50 Free (28.16) and 2nd in the 100 Breaststroke (1:17.40), both District IV qualifying times.

All four girls teamed up to swim the 200 Medley Relay, where they finished 3rd in 2:11.45. They also swam the 200 Free Relay, clocking a 2nd place finish in 1:56.79.

For the boys freshman Austin DeShazo was 4th in the 200 IM (2:42.08) and 1st in the 100 Fly with a district qualifying time of 1:10.06.

Freshman Elijah Kennedy was 7th in the 50 Free (38.00) with fellow freshman Conlen Whitsell placed behind him in 8th (38.39).

Junior Max Mascho posted two district qualifying times in the 50 Free (26.11) (2nd) and the 100 Free (59.43) (4th).

Sophomore Matthew Robbins took 2nd in the 200 Free (2:03.09) and the 100 Free (53.32), both district qualifying times.

Junior Ethan Pollaro was 2nd in the 500 Free (6:41.42) and 6th in the 100 Breaststroke (1:29.74).

Sophomore Eli Shrawder finished 7th in the 100 Free (1:10.00) and 100 Breaststroke (1:46.79).

Sophomore Wyatt Sporer took 3rd in the 50 Free (26.32) (district qualifying time) and was 4th in the 100 Breaststroke (1:18.63).

The team of Mascho, Robbins, DeShazo and Sporer were 2nd in the 200 Medley Relay in 1:57.47 and the team of Sporer, Mascho, Pollaro and Robbins finished 2nd in the 200 Free Relay in 1:45.61, while the team of Shrawder, Kennedy, Whitsell and DeShazo was 4th (2:13.00).

The team is back in the pool on December 18th for a tri-meet with Towanda at Athens.
