A first-half goal from senior Jude Cuneo was the lone score as the Wellsboro Varsity Boys Soccer team defeated Northeast Bradford Wednesday afternoon.
"They're a good team, well coached, and had more opportunities at goal than us," Hornet head coach Todd Fitch said. "Camden made some big saves today! We knew it would be a battle so I'm happy that we got the win and proud of the boys' determination to get a goal and keep a clean sheet."
Cuneo scored off a direct kick that deflected off a NEB defender and into the goal with 6:46 left in the opening half.
Senior Camden Tom made six saves in goal to preserve the shut out.
Northeast out shot Wellsboro 7-2 and had a 6-0 advantage in corner kicks.
Wellsboro swept the evening, winning the JV game 2-0, to improve to 6-0. Freshman Liam Stevens scored both goals. Sophomore Fen Moyer assisted on the first one.
The win improves the Hornets to 8-2 (6-1 NTL). The team is back in action at Hughesville Saturday morning.
