Big 2nd Half Leads Towanda Past Wellsboro, 50-18

The Towanda Lady Knights shook off a slow start to outscore Wellsboro 30-4 in the 2nd half to defeat the Lady Hornets 50-18 on Saturday afternoon.

The game was close early on as Towanda led 13-10 after the opening quarter and 20-14 at the half, however a 21-2 3rd quarter run put the game firmly in the hands of the Lady Knights.

Towanda held Wellsboro to just six made shots from the field the entire game, 4 of them coming in the first quarter, and forced 34 turnovers.

Senior Paige Logsdon led Wellsboro with 6 points and 7 rebounds while freshman Teagan Novinger finished with 4 points and 11 rebounds. Freshman Kate Bryant and senior Chloe Brandenburg added 3 points apiece and junior Lily Wagner added 2 points and 5 boards.

Freshman Adelyn Frantz made 2 assists and Logsdon also had 3 steals and blocked 3 shots.

Towanda swept the afternoon, winning the JV game 47-30. Frantz led Wellsboro with 14 points and Novinger chipped in 10.

The loss drops the Lady Hornets to 5-14 (2-13 NTL Large School Division). The team hosts Troy Tuesday evening.
