Wellsboro's Junior High Soccer team won their sixth straight game, defeating Northeast Bradford 6-2 on Monday, October 7.
"We struggled throughout the game to find our footing on the field but was able to put enough together for the win," said head coach Derek Stevens.
Wellsboro opened the scoring 12:46 seconds into the game on a Gage Baltzley goal, assisted by Haylie Smith. Just under three minutes later Callen Novak scored to put Wellsboro up, 2-0. With 5:11 left to play in the opening half Liam Stevens scored, pushing the young Hornets' lead to 3-0.
Wellsboro scored twice in the second half to increase the lead to 5-0. Less than 5 minutes in Stevens scored for the second time on the evening, then Smith followed it up with a goal, assisted by Novak.
Northeast Bradford scored back-to-back goals to cut Wellsboro's lead down to 5-2 before Smith assisted Stevens to complete his hat trick.
Braydyn Lehman (5) and Benjamin Jackson combined for 6 saves in goal for the Hornets.
Wellsboro improves to 10-1 overall and travels to North Penn-Liberty on Wednesday.
