A pair of first half goals led the Wellsboro Junior High Soccer team to a 3-1 win over Towanda on Wednesday, October 16.
"Fighting through sickness and injuries we were able to put together a pretty decent game against a tough opponent," said head coach Derek Stevens.
Liam Stevens opened the scoring 7:28 into the contest after making a steal. Roughly ten minutes later Gage Baltzley assisted Stevens on his second goal of the game, pushing Wellsboro's lead to 2-0.
Towanda scored with 20:15 remaining in the half to cut the lead to 2-1, however Haylie Smith added an insurance goal with 6:07 left to play.
Braydyn Lehman made 2 saves in goal.
The win improves Wellsboro to 14-1 overall. They take on Williamson Friday for their final game of the season.
